Does the end products need to perform certification test again if using Wirepas Massive software on a Pre-certified Bluetooth module? The Answer is “No”!
Local wireless regulation is the obligation for all devices need to follow. Raytac recently have received several queries from customers asking about if products built by Raytac’s Bluetooth modules need to perform FCC testing again if loaded Wirepas Massive software (aka Wirepas Mesh)?
Wireless regulation by countries may simply divided into 2 categories which are modular policy and non-modular policy. Countries like USA (FCC), Canada (IC), Japan (MIC/Telec)…etc. are following modular policy which means end products do not need to perform wireless testing and allow to use certified module ID on end products directly without further testing required. For non-modular policy countries like Europe (CE), the end products can only reference part of module testing report but still need perform the testing based on product base.
Bluetooth modules loaded Wirepas software would not change the wireless characteristics and features in term of frequency, channels, modulation, transmit power and antenna from original. Therefore, the original module certification and testing report can be referenced, used and leveraged.
Wirepas, an IoT software provider offers a flexible, scalable, and high reliability connectivity solution has been significantly reducing the cost and complexity over projects. The long-standing partnership between Raytac and Wirepas framed a combined hardware and software solution, has built up an ecosystem by providing a per-certified module and ready-to-use software successfully shorten time-to-market for system integrations and accelerate business.
Bluetooth technology has been developing over decades, Nordic nRF5340 no doubt is the most important edge cutting wireless evolution released in 2020 since then. Throughout the common either audio or data Bluetooth transmission to advanced data & audio connection between devices, IoT applications now have already been derived from past simple purpose toward contemporary comprehensive and complex implements in either commercial or industrial fields.
MDBT53 is a System-on-Module (aka SoM) with a good size of 9.3mm x 14.3mm and 48 GPIO which is an ideal dimension to fit in most applications. MDBT53 provides 3 antenna options, Chip antenna; PCB antenna; and u.FL connector for external antenna which deliver a maximum feasibility for most IoT projects.
MDBT53V is designated for the application which has a space constraint design. A 7.8mm x 12.4mm with 25 GPIO is small enough to offer the opportunity of employing nRF5340 modules in the project. In addition, the module offers an extended working temperature of up to +105°C enabling the module to become the most reliable connectivity source for industrial applications. MDBT53V provides 2 options of antenna, Chip and PCB, for developers’ selection which is capable of optimizing the project plan in terms of performance and budgetary.
Over the past few years, Raytac experienced the fast changing of Bluetooth technology from BT2 all the way to latest BT5.2; from heavy power consumption to advanced Low Energy. Raytac is determined in its the mission to provide better module service in the aspects of quality, coverage, and stable pipeline to all partners. MDBT53 & MDBT53V, nRF5340 solution modules, an epochal Bluetooth technology which significantly improves the connectivity ability from data transmission toward audio broadcasting which would be the best model to provide technology that could benefit and contribute to people’s lives.
nRF51422 is the first solution supports both Bluetooth and ANT+, different from pure Bluetooth Low Energy BLE solution, nRF51822 released earlier. The edge cutting technology enable nRF51422 suporting multiprotocol concurrency capable for both Bluetooth Low Energy and ANT+. At the same time Nordic released SDK S310 for nRF51422 which is a combined peripheral BLE and ANT+ protocol stack that supports concurrent operation and all ANT+ features.
When Nordic moved to nRF52, started from nRF52832, the game changed. Even nF52832 still supports ANT+, the technology support such as SDK releasing or developers’ forums, has moved to direct supported by ANT+ Wireless (formerly Dynastream Innovations). Since then, Raytac suggest developers who is interested in ANT+ product still able to select the modules based on core specification and form factor, but access the firmware development support from ANT+ directly. Developers who are interested to know more about ANT+ is encouraged visit ANT+ FAQ support page first for more information about membership, development, resource and certification.
All Nordic nRF52 solutions supports ANT+ feature, developers may refer to below Raytac module map and find what the protocol supports by the symbol stated besides the Nordic solution indication.
With Internet of Things (IoT) technology being the talk of the town for years, Bluetooth obviously has become the most important solutions for short and middle range device connection.
Raytac Corporation, a specialized module maker, adapted Nordic solution among various solution providers, developed a rage of modules with different form factors, antenna options and feature capabilities to optimize and simplify the design and development experience. By this comprehensive product line provided, project feasibility would never be the challenge for all developers.
The pertinent support need out of projects Raytac has been experienced is the accessibility of module design reference, in term of 2D (autocad), 3D (Step / ProE), footprint, reflow, and keep out area suggestion information. To provide a convenient and free to use resource library for developers is seriously been considered. Therefore, Raytac has created a support page in the website, loaded in all the essential design guide information based on all modules. Thus, developers all over the world can just simply click the website and obtain the immediate design information without taking time in back and forth mail communications. This does significantly save the developing schedule up to 2~3 days at least.
Raytac keep improving to make things easier. Any idea you expect from Raytac, feel free to let us know~
Many Customers are interested about Raytac’s facility, reliability and capacity. Here, Raytac would like to invite customers having a quick tour and know more about Raytac’s factory.
Raytac’s factory is located in New Taipei City where is located in north of Taiwan. The factory scales 4600 M2 with 180 man power. A completed in house SMT equipment and inspection facility provide a reliable and speedy module production line with over 600,000 pcs monthly capacity.
The MDBT53 series deployed Nordic nRF5340 solution which includes dual Arm® Cortex®-M33 processor cores with integrated a 1M flash and 512K RAM Memory; and 256K flash and 64K RAM Memory provides an advanced, powerful ability for applications demand a quick response but ultra low power consumption.
MDBT53 brings a bluetooth new era with below feature brief:
*Bluetooth low energy audio
*Bluetooth Direction Finding, such as Angle-of-Arrival and Angle-of-Departure
*Advanced security level
